Job Description

The YMCA of Greater Williamson County, is looking for a Maintenance Technician. Under the direct supervision of the Property and Facility Director, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment, property and limited grounds maintenance. All work will be done in compliance with YMCA, EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations and guidelines. This position will be full time Monday through Friday Schedule. ** Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

Routinely maintain supplies, equipment and fixtures including replacing light bulbs and batteries. Assist with building and repair projects, including; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, flooring, painting, sprinklers, showers, sinks, appliances, doors/cabinets, walls and building exteriors, outdoor work such as; trash pick up, sweeping, light landscaping, and digging. The maintenance technician must take and pass a provided certified pool operator (CPO) class within 6-9 months of hire date. Submit recommendations for maintenance and repairs. Routinely carry out prescribed preventative maintenance measures. Complete necessary inspections of facilities with the Property and Facility Director. Must have a flexible schedule to Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety/emergency protocols, following First Aid and Safety procedures according to our Association's policies. Perform other duties as requested.

Skills / Requirements

Success in this position requires a High school diploma/GED. Must have good interpersonal, public relations, communication, time management, and problem solving skills when dealing with members, staff, peers, volunteers, and supervisor.  Ability to effectively communicate general information on YMCA Programs. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, rates and percentages. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and write routine reports. General knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices including small power equipment and small hand tools.

Maintenance Technician Work Environment and Physical Demands

(The work environments described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the responsibilities of this job.) Regularly works indoors and outdoors. Moderate noise level. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat. Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and to grasp tools, supplies and equipment. Frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. Ability to climb ladders to heights of 10 feet and occasionally up to 15 feet. Physically capable of lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and show proof of insurability. 
  • Pool maintenance is required, and training will be provided. In addition the maintenance technician must take and pass a provided certified pool operator (CPO) class within 6-9 months of hire date.
  • Experience in these areas will be considered a plus to the position; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, flooring, painting, irrigation, swimming pools.
