Job Description

The Highland Lakes YMCA in Burnet, TX is taking applications for a sports official for its youth sports program. Official will be responsible for officiating games for children 3 years old and up. Applicant must be able to work various shifts. Must have knowledge of a variety of sports, for example; volleyball, baseball, soccer, football and basketball are all sports that will be offered at our facility. Preferred candidates will have experience as a sports official but is it not required. Official will be committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children, strong communication and interpersonal skills. Individual must be able to pass a reference check, pre-employment drug screen, sex offender check, and criminal history check.

Skills / Requirements

Job requirements include:


  • Must be able to work weeknights as well as Saturdays from 8am to 2pm;
  • Must possess some knowledge of rules and policies in various sports such as basketball, baseball, football, soccer and volleyball;
  • Have a general knowledge of fitness and wellness;
  • Have strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Have a neat appearance and be well-groomed;
  • Be CPR/AED and First Aid certified or willing to be certified within first 30 days of employment;
  • Be willing to uphold the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, responsibility respect, and faith
  • Be able to pass reference check, pre-employment drug screen, background check and sex offender check.
